Job Purpose: Perform engineering duties in planning and designing Techcrane products.

 

Essential Functions

  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics and computer-generated reports.
  • Confer with other engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.
  • Research and analyze design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.
  • Design and develop innovative mechanical and industrial designs required for new products; execute modification for existing products.
  • Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design, performance specifications and Techcrane's Quality Management System.
  • Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and to make recommendations to production/service crew.
  • Assist drafters in developing structural design of products, using drafting tools or computer-assisted design/drafting equipment and software.
  • Oversee installation, operation, maintenance and repair to ensure that Techcrane products are installed and functioning according to specifications.
  • Conduct research that tests and analyzes the feasibility, design, operation and performance of equipment, components and systems.

SERVICE TECHNICIAN, Job Posted 10/7/16

 

Status: Full-Time

Job Purpose

Maintain and repair marine hydraulic cranes in house and in field. Perform assembly and installation of cranes when required.

 

Essential Functions

Service or repair mechanical equipment in house and/or at customer's site.

Keep crane systems operating by performing inspections, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventative maintenance and repairing equipment as required.

Document service and installation actions by completing forms, reports and inspection checklist.

Provide customer service by acting as liaison between customer and office.

Build and maintain customer confidence by maintaining good response time, informing customer of problems and completing job in timely manner.

Ensure safety and compliance with OSHA and ANSI standards.

Ensure compliance with Techcrane Quality Management System.

Perform assembly, installation and testing of hydraulic cranes and components.

Overhaul and test machines or equipment to ensure operating efficiency.

Train Service/Crane Technician Apprentices in crane assembly, installs and service.

Operate forklift, hand truck, man lift and other production equipment.

Maintain clean and organized shop.

Control non-conforming products.

Qualifications

Must have high school diploma or equivalent or technical school.

At least one year experience as crane technician; demonstrated mechanical skills.

Able to read blueprints, schematics and understand technical data.

Able to use hand tools and trade tools.

Able to operate forklift and other production equipment.

Work well under pressure and meet deadlines.

Valid driver's license.

Crane operators license preferred.

Welding Technician, Posted 10/7/16

Job Purpose

Lay out, fit and fabricate metal components to assemble structural forms using knowledge of welding techniques, metallurgy and engineering requirements.

 

Essential Functions

Lay out, position and secure parts and assemblies according to specifications and using appropriate tools/devices.

Tack-weld or weld components and assemblies using welding equipment.

Cut workpiece using powered saw, hand torch, track torch, bevel machine and grinder.

Observe tests on welded surfaces to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications.

Inspect grooves, angles or gap allowances using appropriate measuring instruments.

Remove rough spots from workpiece using portable grinder, hand file or scraper.

Weld components in flat, vertical or overhead positions.

Heat, form and dress metal parts using hand tools, torch or arc welding equipment.

Ignite torch and adjust valves, amperage or voltage to obtain desired flame or arc.

Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly and welding operations.

Develop templates and other work aids to hold and align parts.

Determine required equipment and welding method, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry and welding techniques.

Confer with Welding Foreman, Production Manager and/or Quality Assurance Director regarding any issues.

Ensure compliance with Techcrane Quality Management System.

Maintain shop cleanliness and organization.

Wear personal protective equipment.

Qualifications

Must have high school diploma or equivalent or technical certificate.

At least three years experience in heavy structural fabrication.

Experienced with welding practices and symbology per AWS D1.1.

Able to read and interpret fabrication drawings.

Proficient in fabrication and welding of structural steel components with minimal assistance.

Proficient in gouging steel components and making 100% UT and MT welds.
